Natco's Velpanat is use for the treatment of Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus the virus can cause both acute and chronic hepatitis infection, ranging in severity from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious, lifelong illness.

There is currently no vaccine for hepatitis C; however research in this area is ongoing.

The hepatitis C virus is a bloodborne virus. It is most commonly transmitted through:

# injecting drug use through the sharing of injection equipment;

# The reuse or inadequate sterilization of medical equipment, especially syringes and needles in healthcare settings; and the transfusion of unscreened blood and blood products.

Velpanat contain Sofosbuvir Velpatasvir . Sofosbuvir is a HCV nucleotide analog NS5B polymerase inhibitor and Velpatasvir is hepatitis C virus NS5A inhibitor . Velpanat is indicated for the treatment of Chronic Hepatitis genotype 1,2,3,4,5,6 infection.

The Clinical trail (Astral Trail) was conducted. And the SVR after 12 week was studies in all HCV genotype patient. In the Genotype 1 patient without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis SVR was 98 to 99%. In Genotype 2 patient SVR was found 99%, In Genotype 3 SVR was 95% And in genotype 4 and 6 SVR was 100% And 95% in Genotype 5.

In Decompensated Cirrhosis after 12week therapy Sofosbuvir + Velpatasvir in combination with Ribavarin SVR was found 94%.

SVR meaning no detectable of HCV virus after 12 week of treatment.

Dosage:

The recommended dose of Velpanat tablet once daily , taken orally, with or without food .

The recommended dose of Velpanat ( Sofosbuvir + Velpatasvir ) is as below.

Genotype 1,2,3,4,5,6 without cirrhosis And Patient with compensated cirrhosis is 12 weeks without Ribavarin.

The dose of Velpanat In Genotype 1,2,3,4,5,6 Patient with decompensated cirrhosis is 12 weeks with Ribavarin

Adverse Reaction:

Most common adverse reactions observed with Velpanat is headache , Fatigue , Asthenia , Nausia, Headache ,insomnia , diarrhea.

Storage : Velpnat should be stored below temperature 30°C.

Side Effect:

Most common side effect with Velpanat is tiredness , headache , weakness, confusion, memory problems ,
